Quite often, we struggle to find the best approach to look after our loved ones. There is a gap between the experience we have and the demanding know-how to be the best carer, also known as caregiver. Many of us would attempt to search for answers through common channels found from the internet. Unfortunately, those channels and suggestions are usually not validated and worse, some are misinformation that might cause more confusion and even harm than help.
On the other hand, there are researchers who discovered relevant evidence and interventions that add to our knowledge and wisdom. However, those discoveries are generally published in technical journals that are hard to access. Even with time and resources, comprehending the details and translating those educations into effective actions require tremendous amount of effort that are beyond the abilities of many carers.
Here, at BetterCarer.SG we believe that while we may not know the best, collectively as a community, we can learn from each other and be better than we were yesterday. We aim to curate relevant, pragmatic and evidence-based discoveries and translate them into small chucks of micro-learning modules through the use of accessible and interesting interactive digital media such as motion graphics and animation. Carers would be able to freely subscribe to our content and grow with the communities to find answers in meeting the challenges they face in looking after their loved ones. For now, we target carers who are looking after kids and adolescence who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) or intellectual disabilities.
